On Premise
While the latest trend is to port everything to the cloud, there are systems that will have to remain
on premise. Latency between hosted systems and on premise upstream or downstream systems often suggest
no alternative. Moreover, most cloud-based hosting solutions require a long-term financial commitment
which, while offering payment in arrays, does not necessarily mean lesser cost.
We have observed production SQL installation ranging from Fry’s homemade servers installed under office desks to clustered servers running a single database. On the other side of the spectrum, we have assisted with brand new cloud-based solutions that required a complete overall. Improperly sized infrastructure will inevitably lead to poor performance and outages, while oversized infrastructure will only benefit the reseller, independently from the location or nature of the installation.
With years of experience working with leading hardware vendors, HP, Dell and IBM to mention a few, we can work with your solution provider to properly size your environments. Moreover, the licensing aspects of Microsoft SQL are often overlooked, leading to the wrong licensing program or license types. We have worked closely with Microsoft, and leading software resellers, and have a thorough understanding of the current Microsoft licensing requirements and can also advise in regard to upcoming changes.
Cloud-Based
For those installations where cloud services can be successfully leveraged, we can assist with both
full cloud-based or mixed environments. We specialize in Azure because we believe that it is one of
the most flexible and reliable solutions available, but have also supported AWS as well as some other
cloud services providers (Rackspace, 1and1, et.). In our experience, for new and self-contained solutions,
cloud- based deployments are often ideal.
