Abschnitt Benigni - A biography of the Bersagliere General Arturo Benigni

This book is a comprehensive biography of Italian General Arturo Benigni, a Bersagliere through and through, detailing his personal life and military career from 1890 through 1961. It is an insight into the life of a career officer through his early years in the southern Italian province of Avellino, the Military Academy in Modena, War School in Turin, various regimental assignments, three wars – Italo-Turkish, WWI, and WWII - in which he experienced combat and was decorated multiple times, and two long POW periods.

There is a particular emphasis on the life of the elite Bersaglieri Corps and the Tunisia Campaign of World War II. General Benigni was a highly decorated officer who, while lesser known to the general public, had an important role in the Tunisia Campaign, having been the first senior Italian Army officer on the ground from the early days until the final capitulation. The book is the result of in-depth research. The author visited most of the places where General Benigni lived and/or served, including the rugged mountains of the Eastern Dorsal in Tunisia.

The book is available on Amazon both on Kindle and paperback.
